The development of Islamic preaching in the digital era has fostered new forms of religious communication that are more visual, concise, and emotionally engaging—particularly through social media. One prominent expression of this is digital graphic art as a medium for popular Qur’anic interpretation. This study aims to analyze how Qur’anic verses are visually represented, interpreted, and received by audiences through the Instagram platform @visualquran.id. The core question addressed is how digital visual art functions as a medium for conveying accessible and contextually relevant Qur’anic messages.
This research employs a qualitative approach using an interpretive case study design. Data collection techniques include content observation, in-depth interviews with the account's creator and followers, and visual semiotic analysis of illustrations and captions. The findings reveal that @visualquran.id effectively uses symbolism, color, and typography to present Qur’anic messages in a way that resonates with the everyday experiences of young Muslim audiences. Audience responses indicate emotional engagement and spiritual reflection, though there is a potential risk of oversimplifying the text’s meaning.
The study concludes that digital graphic art serves a vital role in bridging Qur’anic messages and digital culture through a visual, popular, and contextual interpretative approach. The results underscore the importance of Qur’anic literacy for content creators and suggest stronger integration between religious authority and visual media. This study opens a new avenue for contemporary tafsir studies and Islamic digital communication, and recommends further comparative research across diverse social media platforms
