Publication Ethics
Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement
Qurrata: Quranic Research and Tafsir
Qurrata: Quranic Research and Tafsir is committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics and takes all possible measures against publication malpractice. This statement is based on the principles of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) Core Practices and Elsevier’s publishing ethics guidelines.
The publication of an article in this journal constitutes an essential contribution to the advancement of scholarly knowledge in Qur’anic and Tafsir studies. All parties involved in the publication process—authors, editors, peer reviewers, and the publisher—are expected to adhere to the ethical standards outlined below.
Duties of Editors
The Editor-in-Chief and Editorial Board are responsible for all editorial decisions. Manuscripts are evaluated based on their scholarly merit, originality, clarity, and relevance to the journal’s scope. Editorial decisions are made independently and without discrimination based on race, gender, religious belief, ethnicity, citizenship, or political ideology.
Editors must ensure the confidentiality of all submitted manuscripts and must not disclose any information to unauthorized parties. Unpublished materials must not be used for personal research without explicit written consent from the author. Editors are also responsible for addressing ethical issues, including plagiarism, data fabrication, and conflicts of interest.
Duties of Reviewers
Peer review in Qurrata: Quranic Research and Tafsir is conducted through a double-blind review process to ensure objectivity and fairness. Reviewers assist editors in making publication decisions and in improving the quality of manuscripts.
Reviewers must treat manuscripts as confidential documents and evaluate them objectively, providing constructive feedback supported by clear arguments. They should identify relevant literature not cited by the authors and report any substantial similarity with other works. Reviewers must declare any conflicts of interest and decline to review manuscripts where such conflicts exist. They are also expected to complete reviews within the agreed timeframe.
Duties of Authors
Authors are responsible for ensuring that their work is original, accurate, and free from plagiarism. Proper acknowledgment of sources must be provided. Submitting the same manuscript to more than one journal simultaneously is considered unethical and unacceptable.
Authors should present their research clearly and provide sufficient detail to allow replication. Where applicable, authors should retain and provide access to underlying data. Authorship should be limited to individuals who have made significant contributions to the research, and all co-authors must approve the final version of the manuscript.
Authors must disclose any financial or non-financial conflicts of interest that may influence the results or interpretation of their work. In cases where significant errors are identified after publication, authors are obligated to promptly notify the editor and cooperate in issuing corrections or retractions.
Duties of the Publisher
The publisher of Qurrata: Quranic Research and Tafsir, the Qur’anic and Tafsir Studies Programme at STAI Dirosat Islamiyah Al Hikmah Jakarta, is committed to ensuring that editorial decisions are conducted independently and ethically. The publisher supports editors and reviewers in maintaining the integrity of the scholarly record and ensures that ethical guidelines are implemented consistently.
Ethical Oversight
The journal follows strict policies to prevent and address unethical practices such as plagiarism, data falsification, duplicate publication, and conflicts of interest. All manuscripts may be subject to plagiarism screening. When ethical concerns arise, the journal will take appropriate action in accordance with COPE guidelines, including corrections, retractions, or withdrawal of articles.
